At BrownBoots Interactive, we go through a specific process when talking to our clients. The conversation starts with audience. Helping clients focus on their audience always leads to a better thought process and therefore more effective marketing materials.
In one such instance, we were talking to a client about the SEO (search engine optimization) impact of blog posts. We focused specifically on how the title of blog post could dramatically increase web ranking.
That reminded me of a blog post we did years ago on the same topic. Essentially, I used that blog post to prove the impact of a blog title/headline on search engine ranking. The point bears repeating.
Here’s how it works:
Using our keyword research tools, I determined that approximately 2,900 people per month search for the phrase “Wisconsin Website Design.” I then noted that for the phrase “Wisconsin Website Design,” BrownBoots does not rank in the top 100 search results in Google, Bing or Yahoo.
It’s no surprise, then, that we have zero traffic coming from search engines to the BrownBoots website originating from a search for the phrase “Wisconsin Website Design.”
The theory is if we use the phrase “Wisconsin Website Design” as the title of this blog specifically and use that same phrase four times in the body copy of this post, we will jump up the rankings and, at least temporarily, drive more traffic to our site.
The fun will be revealing the results. Stay tuned!
