If pages could think, perhaps they would philosophize in the manner of René Descartes when he wrote in 1644, “Cogito, ergo sum.” That is of course Latin for “Je pense donc je suis,” so there you go.

However, such ruminations only apply to cognizant beings, which returns us to the questions of a page’s existence and self-awareness thereof. Can a missing page still exist? Can an existing page be missing? If a page falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? And who wrote this speculative nonsense?
